Work With Offenders - The Choices

Debt Management Advisor

Debt management advisors are there to provide appropriate financial advice and to take on board account solutions to those in need of financial help. They appropriate the financial situation and history of each case and base these solutions on their findings. They report directly to the team leader and sales manager and have a range of other responsibilities and duties that they are required to perform.

Some of the day-to-day activities of an advisor include organising and managing each case’s information files, inducting and training fellow employees, managing and exceeding targets set for each individual case, providing advice over the phone and/or by email, and dealing with a range of deadlines from a variety of ongoing cases. They are expected to have the ability to negotiate with the clients’ needs and to up-sell the variety of services on offer. This would require a successful candidate to have strong people skills as nurturing friendly relationships with clients over often a lengthy period of time is a key requirement.

A successful candidate would have previous experience in debt management and outbound telesales and would reflect strong literacy, IT, numeracy and analytical skills as problem solving is a regular feature of the role. He or she would be able to work under pressure and as part of a large team of target driven advisors.

He or she would have a sound working knowledge of (or be willing to develop an understanding of) investment practices and policies, practices and laws relating to capital financing, strategies and issues that impact financial markets, data security techniques and methods, standard accounting practices and ‘generally accepted accounting principles’ and a solid grasp of personal management practices and strategies.
