Brand Enforcement Officer

 

A brand enforcement officer works to prevent counterfeiting and breach of property rights for a company through investigative and enforcement work. They are an independent body that can be hired by any type of organisation that suspect another of copying their ideas/identity. Officers can also be employed in a fixed role as part of a company team. They deal with brand risk, diverted goods, vulnerability, counterfeit goods, brand abuse and brand damage both online and in the variety of street marketing methods.

 

The day to day activities of a brand enforcement officer may include: Carrying out extensive internet, emailing, interviewing or phone research on clients as a means of estimating how vulnerable they are to counterfeiting and the current status of usual counterfeiting suspects; producing a report documenting all of the violations a company have suffered; regularly liaising with clients, keeping them up-to-date on the progress of their investigation; writing cease and desist letters, emails or by phone; removing web-sites that come in violation via sending a request to the ISP and search engines; or updating checks for compliance at regular half-monthly intervals.

 

A successful candidate would have a proven background in a similar role such as risk assessment or investigations for an organisation such as the Post Office. Relevant qualifications such as an NVQ in assessor investigation or security management would be preferable but not essential. Relevant previous experience would also include carrying out extensive research and strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.



Qualifications: Not essential, but relevant certificates would be beneficial.

Experience: Two or more years in a previous similar role in criminal investigation. Experience in carrying out extensive research is also necessary.
